On How To Build A Close Relationship With God

By Francis Riggs

Having a better relationship with the creator is a good goal and shows that you have been reborn, because only those closer to Christ desire to be closer to God. You must also admit that as you live, you will never be closer to God like you desire. The blocking aspect is the sins we commit in this life. God does not lack anything on this. It becomes a deficiency on your part. The sins that people commit continue to be barriers to them knowing how to build a close relationship with God. They realize this when it is too late.

The first step to having a good connection to the creator is making daily confessions of your sins to Him. Because you already know that sin is the barrier, then prayers of confession can redeem you. God always forgives those who confess their sins. From the scriptures, forgiveness improves your relationship on Him.

Bear in mind however that confession is more than just saying sorry. It should come from a sincere heart when one recognizes his or her sins offend the All Holy God. It is a confession of someone who understands that it is because of the sins of human beings the Jesus Christ was nailed on the cross to pay for them and every time one sins they nail Him there again.

People have closer moments to Almighty when they listen to Him. Many are still waiting for a supernatural experience of an encounter in God, but Peter says that the Bible is the surest way of listening to God. So people should read it regularly to know what he is speaking.

Prayer is another way too. This is how we speak to God. It is more than just asking God for what we want or need. The Psalms are mostly heartfelt cries of David to God which we can borrow from. There are supplications, thanksgiving, contrition and adoration modeled divinely.

A group of people who you will fellowship with is good also. Spiritual growth comes by means of regularly singing and praying with others. Having such meetings does not only improve your relation in God but also opens an opportunity to worship with the other Christians. Worshiping him together builds a better relationship.

A life of obedience makes you a closer child of God. The bible displays rewards to people who obeyed, to show us that those who obey shall receive the grace of the lord and his salvation as well. Salvation comes from repentance and living according to the will of God. Obedience shows that we are grateful to Creator for his mercies.

So by confessing, going for bible study, praying, going to church on a regular basis and obeying his commandments will build our association through him. It becomes not a very simple task. We can draw from examples of how we relate with our fellow people to learn this. Those who spend time together, hold regular conversations, openly express their feelings and are good listeners have the best relationships. The same way and even in better levels, we can have an excellent connection with God. It is not that different.
