Understanding The History Behind An Astrological Consultation

By Dorothy Edwards

When it comes to Astrology, there are several options when it comes to acquiring a reading. In addition, there are several different forms of readings. For example, when getting an Astrological Consultation, it is important to know whether the reader is reading from a Western, Hindu, Chinese or East Asian perspective.

In Astrology, there are different techniques, these include Eastern Asian, Chinese, Hindu and Western. Most often, readers in America and Europe are using a Western approach. Whereas, there are a number of readers in different areas whom also use others. As such, when obtaining a reading, it is often helps to understand which approach will be used when acquiring a reading.

By analyzing the movement of these celestial bodies through the zodiac and the placement of the planets in the twelve spatial aspects of the sky, a reader can acquire a great deal of knowledge about the personality of the individual. After which, the most information comes from the individual's date of birth and position of the zodiac sign at the time.

The Hindu aspect of astrology is often considered the starting point of the process. For, a text known as Vedana Jytisha while first believed to be only related to astronomy was later found to have a connection to astrology. As such, the text along with others of the time are the first public texts related to the practice.

Originating with the Hellenistic Hindu natal astrology, meaning the individual birthday is the most substantive information, the original form has been in existence for quite some time. The use of lunar mansions and the Greek zodiac in this form while somewhat similar to other forms are also quite different.

Sharing a close relationship with Chinese philosophy, Chinese astrology focuses on three harmonies, man, earth and heaven. In this form, the concepts of male and female or yin and yang are often used on a regular basis. In addition, there are twelve earthly branches, ten celestial stems and time keeping which are used for religious purposes. For, while many Chinese are not religious, there are a number whom are considered spiritual in nature.

Unlike astrology as it is known today, early Chinese astrology was very political in nature. In fact, most readings were in relation to political movements at the time. As such, the observation of days, events, decisions, identification of portents and unusual phenomena were all part of this early form.

In Eastern Asia, constellations are a big part of these type of readings. For, the focus in this form is on the three enclosures of the sky. Whereas, there are 28 mansions in 12 zones of Ci. While the animal zodiac used in Chinese readings are popular around the world, there is a great deal less known when it comes to Eastern Asia astrology and readings when it comes to zodiacs and symbols.

Whatever style astrology is used for a reading, it can often be interesting to note how on target the information provided by the reader can be. For, most consultants and readers have knowledge in relation to all forms though most only use one form for readings. To confirm a reading, a number of individuals now compare online readings to those received during consultation. In most cases, it is almost uncanny how similar these results can be.
