A lot of people say that they don't set goals because it can lead to failure. However, there is a debate in this argument. People may be afraid of failing, and this is part of life. It is something that everyone should be exposed to because this is how you learn. When you work on achieving your goals and you fail, often this is because you have not planned them properly.

Many people don't set goals at because of the fear of failure, but this is often a psychological issue that you need to deal with. You will often gain more confidence when you begin to set them. In saying this, you also need to make sure that the intent is realistic and specific. Those that are general will not necessarily be successful.

There are various aspects to keep in mind when setting goals. The first thing that is most is important is whether you are able to attain the goal. If you are not fit, but you plan to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in a month, this is not something that is realistic. You need a time frame which is realistic as well. Some people will just have a long term goal, but those that short term goals are also recommended.

This is why a New Year's resolution doesn't last very long. You have no direction. You need to know what kind of diet you are going to approach. You will need to know how you are going to adjust to this and what changes you have to make. You may have to plan a routine. Short terms goals are helpful. You may decide that you want to lose a certain of weight every two weeks.

Teenagers can take advantage of someone like this because of the stress that they go through at school as well as in the home environment. Parents also need to support their children. Support is vital because doing this on your own is never easy.
