The Main Beliefs Associated With An Olive Grove Baptist Church

By Betty Wagner

There are millions of Baptists all over the world. A good percentage of them are in the United States of America. They are also in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Australia, and Asia. Followers of Christianity are more than three billion human beings. This makes Christianity to be the most popular religion on earth. It is also the fastest growing religion with thousands of conversions every week. At any given moment in time, many people are being born Christian. At the heart of an Olive Grove Baptist Church is the unshakable belief in the supremacy of the Holy Bible.

Baptists follow both the New and the Old testaments. There is no part of scripture than is less important than another. They are all equally important. Thus, every single scripture needs to be followed to the letter by a true believer. Scripture starts with the Book of Genesis and ends with the Book of Revelation. Genesis deals with the creation of the world.

Christians believe in eternity. A real believer knows that he will not live forever because earthly life is just but a journey. He understands that there is a day when he will die and that will mark the start of eternal life. One will either go to heaven or hell after his death. It all depends on the earthly actions of a person.

Baptism is a vital Baptist belief as the name of this Christian church implies. This name has a significant implication. From the name, it is accurate to conclude that one has to be baptized so that he can become a part of the flock. Without the process of Baptism, no human being can become a follower of the Christian religion.

The Baptism process primarily happens through the full immersion into water. That can be the water of a river or a lake. Alternatively, the whole affair can happen in a swimming pool. A pastor will be in charge of baptizing an individual. Before any activity can take place, the water has to first be blessed by the preacher.

Human beings have to be baptized because they are sinners from the moment of birth. Sin causes a huge separation. It creates a wide chasm that can only be closed by baptism. Confessing of all sins is an important first step. One has to show that he is sorry of his sinful actions and he should repent and totally turn away from sin.

Baptists also believe in attending service. This is something that should not be taken for granted. Instead, it should be given the seriousness that it deserves. Attending the Sunday service should not be the exception. It needs to be the norm. That does not mean that one should merely be a Sunday believer. There is the need to be a true believer all the days of the week.

Humans are by nature religious. As a matter of fact, the sense of religion is in the DNA of every single human being on earth. There are three major world religions. They are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Christianity has a number of denominations. One of them is the Baptist Church. There is also Catholicism, Anglicanism, and Lutheranism.
